Intel
Animation for Java* Package Known Problems
Beta
1.3.0
The following are known bugs or
deviations from the documented behavior for this Beta
release.
- Display mode limitations: This release of
Intel Animation for Java* package works with
8-bit and 16-bit (555) display modes only. It
does not support 24-bit color or 16-bit (565)
color mode.
- HorizontalFlipEffect and RotateXEffect may cause
visual distortion on Pentium®
processors with MMXÔ
technology.
- GameSample1 can have audio enabled/disabled using
the parameter AUDIO set to ON or OFF. GameSample1
cannot run locally (loaded with file://versus
http://) due to a security limitation on the
current implementation of the Java Virtual
Machine associated with loading local .AU files.
This issue is being addressed and will be
resolved in a future implementation of the VM.
- The RotateYEffect may cause some sprite
distortion at certain angles.
- RDX errors may occur when using effects on a
sprite that has not been applied to a surface. Note:
This is not recommended usage. Sprites should be
applied to a surface via setDestination(surface)
prior to the application of effects to
the sprite.
- Effects classes don't check for some invalid
input parameters when constructed. Input
parameters are fully checked when calling setParams().
- Effects class setParams()
will throw OutOfRangeException
if the parameters cause the sprite width or
height to become very near to zero. This happens
when setting a RotateXEffect to 90 degrees or
when Affine2DEffect parameters shearX == shearY.
- When running Intel Animation for Java applets
under the Sun JDK AppletViewer you will notice
some messages about failure to load msWrap.dll.
Just ignore these as they are debug output that
will be removed from the final release.
- While running Intel Animation for Java applets in
Netscape Navigator* 3.0, you will may observe the
following message in the Java Console '# security
exception : link:msWrap'. You can safely ignore
this message.
- Running an animation applet in Symantec Cafe may
result in this error message: "This program
has performed an illegal operation and will be
shutdown". If you click on Details, you will
see "JAVAW caused a stack fault in module
DINO2D.DLL at 0137:02818eef". The workaround
is to run the applet
in either Sun's JDK 1.0.2 appletviewer or
Microsoft Internet Explorer.
