Intel Math Kernel Library System Requirements

The Intel Math Kernel Library (MKL) runs on Intel-Architecture-based personal computers running the Microsoft* Windows* platforms. The BLAS and FFT routines and functions are callable from FORTRAN programs. The MKL requires the following hardware and software:

  • Hardware
    • Intel486™ processor-based system (Pentium® or Pentium Pro processor-based system recommended)
    • 16 megabytes RAM (32 megabytes RAM recommended)
  • Software
    • Microsoft Windows NT*
    • The Intel Reference FORTRAN compiler or
    • The Microsoft FORTRAN PowerStation* and PowerStation 32 compilers or
    • The Watcom* FORTRAN 77 Compiler

The MKL version 2.0 uses Win32* features, including multiprocessing, so it requires Windows NT. Best performance can be achieved when applications using the library are run on the Pentium Pro processor.
