Intel Flash Memory Intel has pioneered the development of flash memory for automotive applications such as the first flash product - the 28F256. Intel's Flash memory technology allows for cost-effective programmable and reprogrammable code storage, parameter and data storage, and data table upgrades for controller units. Intel's ETOX: flash memory is a high density, truly nonvolatile, and high performance read-write memory solution. It is also characterized by low power consumption, extreme ruggedness, and high reliability. Intel Automotive Flash parts are tested to operate in extreme environmental conditions, from temperature ranges of -40° to + 125°C. Intel's legacy as the Automotive industry's leading flash memory supplier continues today. Intel's list of "industry firsts" includes: the first "Custom" flash memory, the first "Boot Block" flash, and the first flash sold for an in-car navigation application. Intel continues to lead the industry in new development, key innovations, and volume shipments. Intel's reputation of providing customers the highest quality products has been recognized. Intel was the first semi-conductor company to be awarded Ford Motor Company's corporate award for excellence - the prestigious (TQE) award for "Total Quality Excellence". Also Intel's Flash fabrication facility - Fab 7, has been the recipient of Delco Electronics "Targets for Excellence" award. To date Intel has shipped over 10 million flash units to automotive customers worldwide. Our standard offerings have included a 256K, 512K, and 1-Mbit flash memory. Today Intel offers a broad range of flash with densities and architectures ranging from a 1-Mbit bulk erase to a 2-, 4- and 8-Mbit boot block flash component. The latest innovation is the 28F016XS - a 16-Mbit synchronous flash for high-performance applications.
