When youre looking for enterprise
solutions, open, standards-based architectures
are all the more important. The I2O Special
Interest Group (SIG) has defined a
standardized software interface for managing I/O
devices that is hardware- and software-independent.
The role of the I2O
SIG is to promote the interoperability,
performance and ease-of-use of I/O devices. With
the I2O specification available to any company
wishing to join the SIG, you can be assured
I2O-spec compliant products can be offered by all
server and adapter card vendors.
The I2O SIG
offers you the confidence of standardized,
industry-accepted designs and implementations.
The SIG has more than 60 companies involved,
including steering committee companies like
Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Intel,
NetFRAME, Novell, Symbios Logic and 3Com.
If youre interested in learning more about
the I2O SIG,
you can visit the organizations Web site.
This site allows member companies to obtain the
latest release of the I2O specification and
allows prospective members the opportunity to
learn about I2O
SIG membership, find the latest I2O-related
news and even learn about how it
works.
