InstantON can be used to run programs when you are not around. For unattended operations, you must leave your system power on, unless you have a power managed PC.
Some applications are more appropriate for unattended operation than others.
For instance, applications that are interactive and assume the user is present when they are running should not be run unattended. If the program pops up dialog boxes, asks for confirmation, or needs your input while it runs, do not schedule it to run when no one is at the computer.
Other applications are very appropriate for unattended operation. For instance, you do not need to be present for your faxmodem software to receive an incoming fax, so it can run without you. The disk utilities supplied with the Microsoft Plus Pack are designed to run using settings determined in advance. These are also good candidates for unattended operation.
The program should also be able to stop without requiring confirmation or other input from you.
