Product Description
The Intel 440FX PCIset is a highly integrated chip set solution for delivering Pentium(r) Pro processor performance to mainstream business systems. This second-generation PCIset for Pentium Pro processors delivers world-class performance at an affordable price. The 440FX PCIset optimizes system performance for 32-bit application software in 32-bit operating system environments.
Based on Intel's Concurrent PCI architecture, the Intel 440FX PCIset includes a
multi-transaction timer (MTT) for enhanced video transfer and higher frame rates;
a passive release mechanism for improved MPEG and audio performance; enhanced write performance for full utilization of write buffers to improve host-based processing applications; and PCI delayed transactions to ensure CPU-to-ISA write control compatiblity with the PCI 2.1 specification.
Its highly integrated solution makes the Intel 440FX PCIset perfect for compact designs implemented in a four-layer board, in either the ATX, baby AT or LPX
form factors. Supports up to 1 gigabyte maximum memory size using flexible memory options including EDO DRAM. Additionally, the Intel 440FX PCIset
utilizes the PIIX3 component, enabling a common I/O subsystem with the Intel 430HX and 430VX PCIset designs-maximizing your research and development investment and speeding your time-to-market.
