Why your next PC design should feature Intel Dynamic Power Management Architecture.
The Intel 430TX PCIset enables a new dimension of power management and control. We call it Dynamic Power Management Architecture (DPMA). While it enables dramatic battery life savings for users of mobile PCs, DPMA also enables enhancements in the functionality of desktop multi-media systems such as always on functionality--allowing PCs to play a new role at the center of entertainment, communications and managed business systems.
Intel Dynamic Power Management Architecture functions on three levels.
Here's how it works:
Reduce the PC's power budget.
The Intel 430TX PCIset has the built-in intelligence to poll the system bus to determine current activity and shut down clocks to save power. This enables significantly longer battery life in mobile PCs and an environmentally friendly lower power budget in desktop systems.
Give users a new dimension of power management control for better productivity.
Programmable BIOS settings allow OEMs to build user-directed power management. System vendors can provide utilities or function keys that work through the 430TX PCIset, allowing PC users to set suspend states (including the global standby timer, power-on suspend, suspend-to-RAM, and suspend-to-disk) and instantly recover normal functions. When work is suspended and then resumed, the user can be immediately returned to the correct application and file.
Design an always on PC with built-in ACPI and deliver new capabilities for home and business users.
With built-in support for the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification, the Intel 430TX PCIset allows the operating system to sense which devices on the system are not in use and shut them down to conserve power enabling a whole new breed of PC designs.
The home PC can take on a new role at the center of entertainment, communications and control systems
waking up to tape broadcasts, download Internet files, answer the phone, and controlling lights at home while the user is away and then returning to sleep to conserve energy.
The ACPI business PC can wake up to check the Web 24-hours a day for the latest news, stock quotes and weather data or schedule software maintenance and downloads for off-peak usage periods.
Enable new categories of computer uses and users with DPMA.
Now you can design a new generation of media-rich mobile and desktop PCs with unprecedented power management control. By extending battery life and enhancing usability in mobile computing, DPMA brings new levels of user productivity. Advanced power management also has important benefits in desktop systems. By enabling always on functionality, for example, Dynamic Power Management Architecture enabling the PC to assume a new role at the heart of media-rich home theater systems, communications centers and managed business systems.
The Intel 430TX is a further enhancement of the Intel 430 PCIset family found in today's most advanced desktop and mobile PCs.
The 430TX PCIset is available in volume now making this your best time to design Pentium® processor-based mobile and desktop PCs that deliver the ultimate in power management control.
