System vendors can provide utilities or function keys that work through the 430TX PCIset, allowing PC users to set suspend states (including the global standby timer, power-on suspend, suspend-to-RAM, and suspend-to-disk) and instantly recover normal functions. When work is suspended and then resumed, the user can be immediately returned to the correct application and file.

With built-in support for the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification, the Intel 430TX PCIset allows the operating system to sense which devices on the system are not in use and shut them down to conserve power enabling a whole new breed of PC designs.
