• What Pentium processors are supported on the Advanced/ML?
  The Advanced/ML supports Pentium processor at 75, 90, 100, 120, 133, 150, 166 and 200 MHz. Changing the processor requires changes in several jumper settings.
  

• Should I configure my Advanced/ML motherboard for VRE or OVD processor voltages?
  Table 1.10.1 in the Advanced/ML Technical Product Specification incorrectly lists the jumper configuration for pins 4,5,6 on J7K1-B (processor voltage selection). The Advanced/ML Motherboard Specification Update, which can be ordered from Intel Literature, correctly lists the jumpers as follows:
  • J7K1-B pins 4-5 should be jumpered for "Standard" voltage processors
  • J7K1-B pins 5-6 should be jumpered for "VRE" voltage processors
  You can determine if your Pentium processor requires "Standard" or "VRE" support by the S-spec number on the processor. Information on S-spec numbers and their voltage requirements can be obtained at http://www.intel.com/procs/support/faqs/ppfaqx2.htm
  

• What upgrade components can be installed on the Advanced/ML?
  The Advanced/ML will accept processor upgrades, various combinations of system memory, and the battery/real time clock can be replaced.
  

• How do I upgrade to the latest BIOS?
  BIOS upgrade files for standard Intel products are available via FTP from ftp.intel.com or may be downloaded from the Intel BBS. The BIOS identifier for the Advanced/ML motherboard is DB0. Also see general instructions for BIOS upgrades.
  

• How should the switches and jumpers be set on my motherboard?
  On-board switches and jumpers control the configuration options and other features of the motherboard. Check the jumpers document for the Advanced/ML motherboard.
  

• Why doesn't my CD-ROM or second IDE hard drive work with Windows* 95?
  There are two known issues involving CD-ROM or secondary hard drives:
  • The retail version of Microsoft Windows* 95 may not recognize the Intel 82371SB PIIX3 IDE controller used on Intel motherboards, causing the BIOS to disable the secondary IDE channel. This can result in IDE devices (such as CD-ROM drives) not being detected or disappearing after the system is rebooted. A utility is available to update the MSHDC.INF file and resolve the issue.
  • Windows 95 also may fail to recognize a CD-ROM drive that does not comply with the ATAPI specification. A technical advisory covers this issue for Intel motherboards using the 82371SB PIIX3 IDE controller.
    

• Why does my system report 'CMOS Time and Date Not Set' after rebooting?
  Why can't I set the time and date on my system?
  This may indicate a dead battery. This may also indicate a BIOS issue which is resolved by upgrading to the latest version of the BIOS. The symptoms are as follows:

  If the motherboard is powered up or reset when the date is from October 20 to October 31 or from December 20 to December 31, the message 'CMOS Time and Date Not Set' is reported. When Setup is entered, the date 'Jan 01, 1990' will be displayed. When the user re-enters one of the dates listed above, the 'CMOS Time and Date Not Set' error will again be reported.
