DS-51 Microprocessor Development System

CEIBOÆs DS-51 is a real time in-circuit emulator dedicated to the Intel 8051 family of microcontrollers. Serially linked to a PC, it carries out transparent emulation of the selected microcontroller. DS-51 emulates the derivatives in the complete volt-age and frequency range specific to each microcontroller. The emulator uses either the built-in clock oscillator or other clock sources connected to the microcontroller. The operating frequency range is from the microcontroller fmin to fmax and up to 42 MHz. DS-51 provides 128K memory with software mapping and banking capabilities. Breakpoints allow real-time program execution until an opcode is executed at a specified address. Breakpoints on data read or write and an AND/OR combination of two external signals are implemented. A complete set of conditional breakpoints permit halting program emulation on code addresses, source code lines, access to external and on-chip memory, port and register contents. The trace memory records microcontroller activities; eight lines are user selectable test points. Trace inputs are available for starting and stopping trace recording. The trace buffer can be viewed, without stopping the emulation, in disassembled instructions or high level language lines embedded with the related instructions. The performance analyzer checks the trace buffer and provides time statistics on modules and procedures as percentage of total execution time.
The software includes a CEIBO 51 source level debugger for Assembler, PLM and C. Files generated by most C-Compilers and Assemblers are accepted in the OMF51 object, Intel hex and other formats. Personality probes and adapters for different microcontrollers and pack-ages and memory bank setup are optional. The systems are supplied with standard features such as 32K real-time trace and logic analyzer including test points/clips, personality probe C51 which handles most of the Intel 8051 40 pin DIP or 44 pin PLCC/QFP microcontrollers. The DS-51 comes with a two-year warranty.
