In an I2O environment, RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) controller function-ality may be implemented by means of either a device driver module (DDM), or by an intermediate service module (ISM). Through whichever means, the resultant functional unit is referred to as the RAID module.
This paper discusses RAID module functions, architecture, and issues requiring consider-ation when implementing the RAID module in an I2O environment.
