Software
All Demo applications come with full and reusable source code. The entire Internet Appliance demo software, including Operating system, and TCP/IP Stack microGUI all fit within 2MB of Intel Flash Memory.

Web Browser
The web browser is based on Spyglass’s browser Technology that is HTML 3.2 compliant. Customize the look and feel of your browser using the QNX Visual Application Builder.

Email Client
Full working Email client based on SNMP protocol to send and receive text messages. Customize the look and feel of your Email client using the QNX Visual Application Builder.

Development Suit

  • Watcom* C/C++ Development Suit is a full featured development suit including compiler, assembler and debugger with full support for the QNX microGUI function library. This makes the development of the QNX executables fast, easy and optimized.

Hardware

Network Interface cards
The kit includes two network interface cards for fast development and execution of application on the target hardware. Thin net Ethernet cable and terminators are also included.

US and International Modems and Development Kit
US and Canadian customers receive the Rockwell AccelerATor* design kit with a 33.6K baud ISA modem card for data/fax/voice/speaker phone/AudioSpan. Pass through FCC certification is available when using the existing design schematics. Customers outside the US and Canada receive the 28.8K baud EuroViVa Com Centre configurable modem with the Rockwell modem chip. This modem can be jumpered for individual country requirements. This modem design has been certified in thirteen different countries. Pass through certification is available when using the design as is.

LCD/VGA Controller
Local bus graphic support is provided by a Cirrus Logic CL-GD6245 LCD/VGA controller. The 6245 supports 640 x 480 dual or single-scan color or monochrome STN LCDs and color or monochrome TFT LCDs. CRTs are supported with resolutions up to 1024 x 768 with 16 colors or 800 x 600 with 256 colors. The 6245 also provides simultaneous CRT and LCD operations. VGA uses a standard DB15 connector. LCDs can be attached using a 50 pin high density header.

PCMCIA, IDE and Floppy Control
The EXPLR2 provides a number of methods for accesses and executing applications. The on-board single slot Type II PCMCIA controller provides access to PCMCIA modules as well as a means to support file transfers and local user storage using Intel Flash Memory Cards. A 40 pin header allows optional booting of the development environment via an IDE controlled hard drive. A floppy disk drive is supported to allow installation of standard software and copying files between EXPLR2 and a host PC.

System Requirements
Just attach any VGA CRT, a PS/2 keyboard, mouse, and power supply to begin.
