Tool Description:

For the October, 1994 Fast Flash product introduction, Intel's Memory Components Group modified the 386EX Evaluation Board (EV386EX) to support a 4-Mbyte 28F016XD SIMM installed in the DRAM SIMM socket. This modified platform ran its BIOS, direct-execute Datalight ROM-DOS and screen display application/data directly out of the 28F016XD SIMM. Doing so, it replaced the following system components:

Boot Block flash memory
DRAM SIMM
IDE hard disk drive controller (on PC-104)
Hard disk drive

These components, being no longer required, were removed from the system.

Tool Features:

  • Subsystem designs focused around processor/controller and flash memory
