AP-380 Upgrading System Designs from Bulk Erase to Boot Block Flash Memories

This application note assists in upgrading existing system designs based on First-Generation Bulk Erase flash memories to Intel's Boot Block devices. Boot Block Flash memories from Intel Corporation ensure safe and simple embedded code updates for system designs. The optimized blocking of these devices locks and protects key kernel boot software while enabling easy upgrade of the majority of system code and integrating ROM, bulk flash memory and EEPROM/NVRAM functionality in one solution. Automated algorithms simplify update routines and extend system flexibility.
