Tool Description:

EMP-30, under $1,000.00, is for people that need to work with a wide variety of devices, both old and new. It has greatly enhanced speed and power capabilities, allowing support of older fuse link type technologies and the newer anti-fuse technologies. With up to 76 pins that can be driven, very high pincount devices can be supported.
Two SRAM-based dynamic FPGAs are the heart of the hardware design. Each supported device has a unique FPGA configuration file. EMP downloads the specific configuration file to the programmer as part of the device selection process.
When EMP verifies a successful download, ground and programming pathways not routed directly through the Family Module are setup through relays. This arrangement guarantees that DAC-controlled voltages are accurate and ground solid. After device ID check, the appropriate algorithm is pulled from the EMP library. This algorithm is then given control over the process of programming the device with the buffer contents. New devices, or changes to existing devices, are quickly and easily implemented because all devies have library macros that implement programmer configuration and programming algorithms. New macros can easily be added to or deleted from the libraries without changing the other entries.
The operating interface, EMP, is DOS-based or functions as a well-behaved DOS application under Windows*. The included buffer editor allows data to be placed exactly where you want it, provides HEX and ASCII strings, and support for SPLITS, SETS and SWAPS. A flexible macro facility allows storage of frequently used procedures, and keystroke execution.

For Miniature Card adapting hardware, see Tool Type category "Miniature Card-to-PC Card Adapter".
