Single Board Computers Cut Through the Big Jobs
Ziatech
  • ZT 8905 Single Board Computer (STD 32)
  • ZT 6500 Single Board Computer (3U CompactPCI)
  • ZT 5510 Single Board Computer (6U CompactPCI)

The Ziatech STD 32 and 3U CompactPCI card are single board computers with compact, 12-layer backplane designs. They contain large amounts of system memory, flash memory, and PC peripherals including IDE ports, video and industrial I/O. In most applications, the single board computers are used in a rugged enclosure with a passive backplane, so they can communicate with other system boards such as a motion control interface, Ethernet card, or PLC interface.

The STD 32 Pentium® processor computer can be part of a multiprocessing system with as many as seven Pentium processor-based CPU cards, all sharing the same enclosure. Each can have its own operating system, but all share common peripherals such as video and storage. This system architecture allows designers to segment an application, for example assigning one single board computer to a graphical user interface and others to real-time control tasks.

Ziatech systems automate all kinds of control equipment, from large-scale telecommunications switching stations to semiconductor processing equipment. As an example, a sawmill uses the STD 32 system to scan logs, evaluate the most profitable cuts, control the saws and distribute timber and waste––all in a matter of seconds.
