Choosing a Platform Architecture for Cost Effective MPEG-2 Video
Playback
Video playback on a personal computer places specific demands upon the
underlying system hardware and software. In trying to meet these demands,
OEMs and IHVs face a large number of implementation possibilities, each
with cost/performance implications. The purpose of the paper
Designing A Low Cost, High Performance Platform For
MPEG-1 Video Playback (Adobe Acrobat* format, 148 Kbytes) is to examine
the various options and then to recommend what we believe is the lowest
cost, highest performance platform configuration for general purpose
MPEG-1 video playback.
