Description
Omniview, Inc., an Intel/MMX technology development partner, develops and markets products and services based on patented PhotoBubbleTM technology, a new digital imaging medium. A PhotoBubble is an interactive, spherical image with a 360-degree view from any given point, created by taking two opposing photographs with a standard fisheye lens and joining them through computer image remapping. The user can navigate a PhotoBubble using a mouse or other keyboard input device, panning left, right, up or down. Because PhotoBubbles can be linked together, or linked to traditional photographs and renderings, virtual tours can be created using just these tools, enhancing the bubbles with narrative, music, video, text and graphics.
Applications include entertainment, travel, real estate, news media, interactive broadcasting, and marketing. Omniview Studios provides a variety of solutions, including PhotoBubble processing, turnkey title development, and multimedia enhancement. Studio clients include The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, the National Football League, Toyota, Xiphias Corp., Rent.net, and Resort Condominiums International. Having released one CD-ROM title, Fallingwater: An Interactive Tour, Omniview Studios is currently producing a tour of Israel in cooperation with Parsons Technology and an interactive photography workshop with the Minolta corporation. In the first quarter of 1997, Omniview Technologies plans to release several products, including a PhotoBubble HotspotterTM, an SDK to allow programmers to embed PhotoBubble technology into their applications, an Active X plug-in for Microsoft's Internet ExplorerTM, and an Xtra for users of Macromedia's DirectorTM program.
