The "Optimizing for the Pentium® Pro Processor Family" tutorial introduces you to the Pentium Pro processor family and describes optimization techniques that improve your application's performance on these processors.

The tutorial features five lessons:

Processor Microarchitecture explains microarchitectural features that influence the way you program your applications.
Branch Optimizations teaches optimization techniques that help avoid the cost of mispredicted branches.
Decoder/Cache Optimizations describes how to maximize the number of instructions decoded in each cycle. It also teaches how to avoid potential stalls that may adversely affect cache performance.
Execution Optimizations presents techniques that prevent unnecessary stalls in the pipeline and enable parallel execution of micro-ops in the processor's out-of-order core.
Klamath Processor introduces the MMX™ technology and presents a Klamath-specific optimization technique.
