Preprocessor Interface For Hewlett-Packard Logic Analyzers

The Hewlett-Packard Intel MCS « micro-controller preprocessor interfaces provide an easy way to connect an HP 16500 Modular Logic Analysis System or a HP 1660 and HP 1670 series logic analyzer to a target system using Intel MCS micro-controllers. All necessary clocks are passed to the logic analyzer by the pre-processor ensuring that data is captured at the correct time.
Software is shipped with the preprocessors that automatically configures the logic analyzer, and generates labels for MCS microcontroller address, data, and status signals. Included with the software is a disassembler that displays execution traces in Intel MCS microcontroller mnemonics. Instructions that are prefetched but not executed are marked in the trace display. Preprocessor interfaces for Intel MCS controllers provide disassembly filters to speed debugging by showing or suppressing controller cycles in the trace listing. Two operating modes are available: state-per-clock, which provides a complete display of all bus activity; and timing analysis up to 500 MHz (channel-to-channel skew is 1 ns).
