This application note describes a reference design for a 24-port 10BASE-T switched ethernet hub based on an Intel i960(r) microprocessor. A "switched ethernet" hub enables network devices to communicate more efficiently than is possible with 10BASE-T repeating hubs.
The reference design uses three Galileo Technology GT-48001 Switched Ethernet Controller (SEC) devices to provide the ethernet switching functions while the i960 processor provides network management and control functions.
