This application Note reviews the hardware and software requirements for implementing a resident flash disk. The software section provides an overview of the Flash Transition Layer (FTL). The hardware section provides an overview of the High Value Flash memory components and a design example. The design example includes an Intel386(TM) EX embedded processor, flash control logic and sliding window logic.
