Digital Function Processor (DFP)

The Digital Function Processor (DFP) is available as an option on Z1800-Series in-circuit test systems. The DFP is integrated through the Z1800-Series switch matrix. The DFP provides address, data, control signals, and VPP for all types of programmable devices. The DFP also has two flexible serial channels for microcontrollers, CPUs, or serial memory devices.
Dynamic data, such as bar code, date code, or other information can be programmed by the DFP. Dynamic data can also be used to alter program data sets, allowing each board to be custom-configured on the fly. DFP programs are written in the familiar "C" programming language. Microsoft "C" and Borland Turbo "C" are both supported by the DFP library. Teradyne supplies a library of function calls and example programs. A custom program is created by straightforward modification of the appropriate example to fit your application.
All Z1800-Series models can be equipped with the DFP. Configuration options allow for up to four driver cards. The base system includes 24 channels, expandable to 96 channels with four driver cards. Address range is up to 24 bits (16 megawords) of address by 48 bits of data.
Two high-speed serial ports and a 8253 triple timer are provided per card (logic level and RS 232). The DFP has built-in address generation and provides programmable VPP to 12.75V.
The DFP is based on the 66 MHz 80486 DX2 and is configured with 4-16 Mbyte of memory and 500 Mbyte hard disk storage.
