The Elan J-Series of PCMCIA read/write drives, suitable for use with any desktop PC, come in a wide choice of system configurations for single, dual, internal and external operation for all types of PC Cards including flash, I/O and other memory types in all types of I, II and III cases. The robust J-Series hardware design protects against all failure conditions, including overcurrent and shorted address and data lines, and can therefore be used for card testing functions.
Boot options with proprietary Elan software allow flash cards to be used for direct boot operations in either single or dual card slot configurations, with or without PC desktop internal hard disk drives.
JC_CARD is Elan's proprietary engineering application software for reading, writing and editing cards in a binary transparent mode. Transparent mode takes no account of any filing structures on the card, and will read and copy on a direct byte-by-byte arrangement. It is particularly useful for professional developers and for creating exact image copies of all card types, including Intel Flash memory cards.
JC_CARD does not fit into the PCMCIA hierarchy of software layers as it accesses the Elan range of J-Series R/W hardware directly and therefore does not require Socket Services.
