ApBUILDER is a powerful tool for programming Intel's embedded microprocessors and microcontrollers. It is developed by Intel's factory applications engineers to reduce your learning curve and shorten the total design time. You can develop peripheral initialization code without prior knowledge of the architecture with just the click of your mouse! It's your architecture expert on a disk. ApBUILDER software provides you with instruction set information, an interactive special function register (SFR) editor, peripheral design capabilities, modular initialization code generation in assembly or C, and context sensitive links to hypertext device manuals and data sheets.

ApBUILDER maps everything a programmer needs to each screen. All the options and configuration parameters for a device are displayed screen by screen. By simply pointing your mouse, you select only the valid options for a device. And it's flexible too. There's a design section that allows you to select the functionality of each integrated peripheral. Choose either assembly language or C output, hit the "Show Code" button, and the generated source code can be copied to the clipboard. Then, simply paste the code from the clipboard to your editor and combine it with your application specific code. ApBUILDER generated code is fully commented and generated in/as modular functions so it is easily callable by your application code. In addition, the factory experts have designed the code using macros. This allows you to quickly change some configuration parameters (let's say due to a hardware design change) by simply changing one macro flag. Without macros, you would have to edit the entire code affected by the changed parameter.

Learn as you program. You can easily get the technical information you want as you need it! ApBUILDER screens have context sensitive links to hypertext manuals. Simply select a register, bit, instruction, or peripheral option. Then, press the "Manual" button and the built- in hypertext link will take you right to the paragraph in the device user's manual that discusses what you selected. ApBUILDER makes it easy to learn while you program. This reduces your learning curve while shortening development time.
